What to Wear for Your Senior Photo Session

Your senior year is such an exciting milestone, and your senior photos should reflect you. From your personality to your style, what you wear plays a huge role in how your images look and feel. The most important thing to remember when planning outfits for your senior session? Wear what makes you feel confident and comfortable.
Depending not he package you choose you will have time for one or two outfits during your session, so choosing looks that feel like different sides of your personality is a great way to add variety to your gallery.

Outfit Ideas for Your Senior Session

Here are three outfit categories to help guide your choices:

Casual

This is your everyday, relaxed look. Think your favorite pair of jeans, a simple top, or even a band tee you love. Casual outfits photograph beautifully when they feel natural and effortless.

Dressy

This outfit is all about elevating your style. A flattering dress, a jumpsuit, or a skirt paired with a cute top can really make your images feel polished and timeless.

Personal

This is one of my favorites! Choose something that represents an important part of your high school experience—your sports uniform, a college sweatshirt, or something connected to a hobby or passion you love. These outfits tell your story and make your photos even more meaningful.

What to Wear: Do’s & Don’ts

Do:

  • Bring layers like a denim jacket, sweater, or cardigan. Layers are a great way to change up your look without a full outfit change.
  • Choose flattering colors that complement your skin tone and eye color.
  • Wear shoes you love! Your shoes will be visible in photos, so don’t forget about them.
  • Try everything on ahead of time to make sure the fit feels comfortable and confident.

Don’t:

  • Avoid neon colors, busy patterns, or large logos. These can be distracting and may cast color onto your skin or pull focus away from your face.

Prep Tips Before Your Session

  • Make sure all clothing is clean and wrinkle-free.
  • Prep your hair and nails ahead of time. Hair should be fully dry for your session.
  • Makeup should feel like you—whatever makes you feel your best and highlights your natural features.
