Irvine Nature center lends itself to green, funky, fun weddings and their wedding was no exception. This wedding was a completely unique experience because Martin and Katy had a very specific color, texture, and design aesthetic.
I had been looking forward to it for a full year because we did their engagement session way back in the fall of 2010 in Patterson Park! You can check it out here. I knew from those photos that Katy would be a stunning bride and that Martin was totally in love with her (as he should be).
Martin and Katy have been together since college so the casino wedding was a very personal and emotional one. There was a moment during the ceremony where they were both crying so much they stopped and gave each other a hug. I love seeing those real emotions spill out in front of my camera and I was honored to be there in such an intimate moment.
What a fantastic ceremony end!! Love the colors!
The bridal party was hysterical and we spent time playing in the woods and by the trolley. What happens when you get a bunch of theater and design geeks together..magic. They were definitely my kind of people and my second photographer and I wanted to be friends with everyone that attended. They were all sporting vintage clothing, mix matched colors, and awesome accessories. The dance floor was like a rock concert at times and I literally think they broke the dance floor. Now that is a great party. The night ended with a campfire marshmallow roast where friends gave ” I love you guys” speeches with sticky hands raising glasses and toasting their gorgeous day.
Thanks to all the fabulous Vendors who made this event totally unique!

I love these two because they are goofy and fabulous couple! Jessica (my fantastic assistant) and I rocked out the third wedding of the “three wedding weekend”! It was SO hard choosing photos for the blog without giggling, crying, and smiling at all of them. I can’t wait for you two to see the rest, but obviously your honeymoon in Italy takes precedence. I am still shocked I am not there with you since I asked to come along!!! I keep crossing my fingers that will work some day!
She pulled her best supermodel for me and looked STUNNING!
The flowers smelled amazing!
They are kind of in love…can you tell?
Thanks to the vendors who made their day flawless!

As a second photographer I always get to be with complete strangers on their wedding day which is odd to me, but at the same time a fun challenge to see if I can establish a relationship quickly and gain trust from those clients right away. These two were such a beautiful couple and we got along right away. They had some of my favorite wedding elements including a bib fluffy dog, a ridiculously gorgeous wedding ring, and a bride in a flowing chiffon gown that just couldn’t stop giggling.See More »
