It was great to get the chance to photograph these two love birds again! Their wedding was in September 2011 and I am happy to see they are all settled into married life and as cute as ever. The blossoms dropped early in Washington DC, but but we found some flowering trees and made the best of our chilly DC morning together.

Irvine Nature center lends itself to green, funky, fun weddings and their wedding was no exception. This wedding was a completely unique experience because Martin and Katy had a very specific color, texture, and design aesthetic.
I had been looking forward to it for a full year because we did their engagement session way back in the fall of 2010 in Patterson Park! You can check it out here. I knew from those photos that Katy would be a stunning bride and that Martin was totally in love with her (as he should be).
Martin and Katy have been together since college so the casino wedding was a very personal and emotional one. There was a moment during the ceremony where they were both crying so much they stopped and gave each other a hug. I love seeing those real emotions spill out in front of my camera and I was honored to be there in such an intimate moment.
What a fantastic ceremony end!! Love the colors!
The bridal party was hysterical and we spent time playing in the woods and by the trolley. What happens when you get a bunch of theater and design geeks together..magic. They were definitely my kind of people and my second photographer and I wanted to be friends with everyone that attended. They were all sporting vintage clothing, mix matched colors, and awesome accessories. The dance floor was like a rock concert at times and I literally think they broke the dance floor. Now that is a great party. The night ended with a campfire marshmallow roast where friends gave ” I love you guys” speeches with sticky hands raising glasses and toasting their gorgeous day.

These two crack me up! This wedding was quirky, fun, and totally awesome. More of the love story to come, but I wanted to post the sneak peek of the photos for everyone to see! Congrats to Mark and Sarah! Sarah was REALLY crafty on this one! I love my DIY brides! She made her bird cage veil, her cake, her favors, and her table markers!

I had the pleasure of spending the evening with this awesome little (and growing) family at Quiet Waters Park! Angela is a makeup artist with Behind the Veil and we work together at weddings. When I saw that her gorgeous self was pregnant I jumped at the chance to do maternity photos! Niko is about the cutest 3 ½ year old I have ever chatted with (he seems more like 5 ½ ) and I was glad to see he relaxed with the camera around. Ken is such an awesome dad and couldn’t stop loving on either of them during the shoot. I can’t wait to meet the newest addition to the family and I am looking forward to more photographic adventures in the future!See More »
It isn’t often I photograph high school sweet hearts getting married!! Kyle and I photographed them as they got ready in their childhood bedrooms. NSync posters watched over Mandee as she prepared for the big day. It was a look back in time with his prom king sash and her prom court sash both on display as reminders of another important moment in their relationship.
“Richie and I have been crazy-in-love since we were 15.″ – Mandee
It was a classic Naval Wedding with the stunning blues and whites. Photographing at the Academy seems easy because the ladies running are so organized and there are never ending beautiful spaces to photograph people! Mandee was an absolute rock star in front of the camera! We couldn’t take a bad photo of her if we tried! Her Dad did an awesome job walking her down that long isle and the ceremony had personalized vows, tears, and laughter.
I couldn’t help thinking about the two of them at Prom during the Reception and marveling at the idea that all these special and significant moments were with the same fantastic person, for both of them. I look forward to seeing more moments of the two of you together as your love and family grows! I’m going to miss you when you move away, but I know you will be back and I will be getting you back in that dress again supermodel Mandee!
